WHO WE ARE Carl G. Cooper, Esq. Widely recognized as the country's first management-level, full-time Chief Diversity Officer at a Fortune 500 law firm, Carl set the standard for creating diversity as a "top-of-the-mind" item in the legal profession during his tenure at K & L Gates. Beyond being a change agent within this firm, Carl helped to accelerate change across the entire legal profession. Carl brought to bear his extensive experience as a law professor on the training of every lawyer at the firm through a cutting-edge mentoring program that has been emulated throughout the legal community. During his tenure as Diversity Chief firm created their Balanced Hours Program and a firm-wide wellness initiative. Carl was appointed by the President of the American Bar Association to the prestigious Presidential Council on Diversity in the Legal Profession and to the ABA's Center on Race and Ethnic Diversity, their umbrella program for all diversity initiatives. In addition, Carl was selected by the President of the Pennsylvania Bar Association to head its Diversity Initiatives and continues to serve the incoming presidents of that association in formulating and instituting their goals for inclusion. Ellen Ostrow, Ph.D, CMC With a Ph.D. in Psychology, coaching certification, and 10 years of consulting with legal professionals and organizations, Ellen brings a unique set of skills and experience to her work with COR Associates. Widely known for her expertise is in gender issues in the legal profession, she is much in demand as a speaker and writer. Ellen's 28 years of experience and training as a psychologist inform her methods of identifying and reducing those entrenched, often covert, biases that often block the success of talented minority and women attorneys. As the founding principal of Lawyers Life Coach LLC, she has extensive experience in coaching attorneys to succeed in their leadership, business development, and career development. Jeannine Rupp, M.Sc With 10 years of experience in professional roles that span for-profit, non-profit and academic legal organizations, Jeannine commands a broad perspective on working-lives, career development, and employment relations. She provides expertise in establishing inclusive, equitable, and effective workplaces through a demonstrated commitment to human capital development at both the organizational and individual levels. Previously, as Firm-wide Director of Professional and Personal Life Integration for K&L Gates, Jeannine held the first position in the legal industry to focus solely on work-life integration and its business implications, reporting directly to the Chairman and Management Committee. Utilizing collaborative action research consulting and coaching to identify, understand and improve working practices, assumptions, and structures, Jeannine created K & L Gates' Balanced Hours Program, a groundbreaking flexible working program and policy for the legal industry.
